While we were driving around this weekend "When Doves Cry" came on the radio. Perhaps because we were in my old neighborhood I felt as if I could smell the summer of 1984 again. This lead to a discussion on the merits of Prince, with me parroting some of the thoughts in this recent piece in the A.V. Club about his early career. Inevitably I found myself digging up this old best-of mix I made for myself in the early 90s; I plan on listening to it in the car with the windows down, because really, Prince and his sticky horniness are all summer to me. Spent the weekend starting a project perfect for the 4th: I'm documenting the best Chicago-style hot dogs the city has to offer. The hubby is doing the tasting while I'm doing the photographing; encased meat isn't entirely my bag, but I love looking. We have many more paces to visit, but the above (from Wolfys, Gold Coast Dogs, and Byron's) show just how many variations there are on the classic.
