Handmade Movies

I've had a weird little obsession lately with the idea of making my own paper movie machines. This is totally ludicrous and puts me one step away from making my own viewmaster reels; nonetheless I went as far as to buy this book on etsy, which has very interesting instructions for making your own thaumatropes, kinematoscopes, rolloscopes and lots of other scopes I had no idea existed. I also bought this readymade zoetrope because I got lazy. How ridiculously analog would it be for me to make strips from screencaps of my favorite films so I could watch them through the zoetrope? Yeah, I've officially become a Portlandia punchline.
