Slayer Soda and Sweets

Like any devoted Whedonite, I was pretty excited to receive my pack of limited edition Buffy Jones Soda. So during this weekend's Willow and Tara Forever marathon on Logo I baked some cuppies to have with the soda. I think I gained a few pounds of Buffy love in the process.

A Buffy blue bubblegum cupcake from this recipe. Surprisingly delicious. The cupcake, that is; the soda gave me a stomachache before it hit my stomach.

Key lime cupcakes topped with strawberries in honor of Xander's Strawberry Lime Elixir. See, the strawberries make x shapes! Aren't I clever!

A grape jelly-filled cupcake topped with peanut butter for Giles' Grape Potion. Because we all know Giles loves the jelly ones.

A witchy apple cupcake for Willow's Green Apple Witch's Brew. The vintage topper I had reminded me of the little Pez witch Oz gave Willow.

Cuckoo for Kesey

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the film, I'm reading the book. And I made a Sonny the Cuckoo mask. I imagine a Cocoa Puffs tie-in to the movie; in the commercial McMurphy shares a bowl with Sonny, using booze instead of milk.

Pacino vs. De Niro

Remember all the ridiculous who's-gonna-take-who-down posturing in Heat? From the looks of this poster for the Pacino vs. De Niro weekend, my bet is still on Pacino.

The Suitcase

Best episode of Mad Men ever? Possibly. Then again, I find the Don/Peggy relationship to be the most fascinating of the show, so I might be biased. But really, how many glorious moments can you fit into one hour of television? The coat and hat that Peggy kept taking off and putting back on. The cockroach walking by the Parthenon. "Sterling's Gold", a tale of lost days and lost testicles. Duck almost taking a dump on Roger's modernist lounger. Anna the apparition and her suitcase. (Tears.) Don finally returning Peggy's touch, in a familial way. (Thank you.) Illustration courtesy of Audrey Malo.
