I was feeling a little Conchords withdrawal today, so I thought the best solution was to watch Eagle vs. Shark, a favorite film of mine that also happens to star Jemaine Clement. Yea for Netflix instant! The writer/directer, Taika Waititi, also helmed a few Conchords episodes this past season, and shares the same quirky Kiwi sensibilities as his buddies. Jemaine plays Jarrod, a mullet-sporting doofus obsessed with avenging his childhood bully. But the heart of the film is Lily (played by Loren Horsley), a sweet misfit longing for Jarrod's attention. I fell in love with Lily, and so did Kiki, who painted these perfect portraits of her. If you are feeling schmoopy one afternoon, listen to the soundtrack and watch the movie; your life will be the sweeter for it.

Gah! I can't wait to watch this!!!!
Oooh Nannette you MUST!!
aw Lily really was the best part of this movie. So cute and likable. These portraits are lovely. There's a movie called Kombi Nation that Loren Horsley co-wrote and starred in, which I've been meaning to see ever since Eagle Vs Shark. Have you seen it? I've heard mixed things about it.
I have not seen Kombi Nation...I am almost reluctant to see her as anyone but Lily!
You know, I've never seen Flight of the Conchords. Must. Change. That.
Amy, people seem to either love the Conchords or hate them. I'm in the former category, obviously, but I have friends who are just like, "huh?" I'll be curious to see where you fall.
Sweet film, sweet portraits, sweet post!
