
First there were the gifts, filled with Flannery O'Connor's peacocks, aromatic herbs, and mixtape love. But let me focus on the dessert for a minute. I visited the best bakery in Chicago for the coconut cupcakes and sour cherry macaroon you see. Then, thanks to a fabulous package from Amy with an amazing cookbook, I baked my first hummingbird cake! My new plan is to make every weekend a birthday weekend.
