Since I found one of the prints we have hanging in our living room at the Salvation Army, I really admire Paul Belker's huge collection of thrift store art. Paul has been thrifting for paintings for years, and apparently he even moved to Chicago because of the quality of the thrift stores. I need to get on it! You can check out more thrifted art in Jim Shaw's book Thrift Store Paintings, and at the fantastic Museum of Bad Art.

I love thrift store art! I've seen his collection and the painting you have here is one of my favorites. I included her in a blog post I did as well on the subject a few months back :)
I guess great minds think alike! I didn't see that issue of Domino - how I would love to have celebrity-sized wallspace!
"He moved to Chicago because of the quality of the thrift stores."=I LOVE THIS MAN. He's got his priorities straight. And I do love some thrifted original art. I have a thrifted reverse glass painting of a leopard hanging in my bedroom that set me back a whopping 25 cents. It's pretty genius--never seen anything like it before or since.
ps: was in l'ville over the weekend and--sad to report--completely missed out on the lebowski fest shenanigans. but i did eat lots and lots of pie....
Lebowskifest! Check my post tomorrow. I will be lamenting missing it yet again. But pie is a pretty damn good replacement ;)
