I Netflixed a great movie recently: Starting Out in the Evening. I was anxious to see Frank Langella, who I've enjoyed in everything from his younger, more flamboyant performances to his more recent, restrained work. His performance was amazing, the film was intelligent and nuanced, and yet as I watched it I became more and more obsessed with Lauren Ambrose's wardrobe. Just call me Mallory. Turns out Lauren's character was outfitted in Lyell, the gorgeous clothing line by Australian Emma Fletcher that is both vintage-inspired and modern. I could spend all day looking at the beautifully photographed Lyell Spring and Summer collection. You can check out the trailer to Starting Out in the Evening here if you don't want to be quite as superficial.

For a second I seriously thought about taking out a second mortgage to buy the Marianne Faithful jacket. Oh, my...what beautiful, drapey, romantic clothes...
And now I know what to put at the top of my netflix queue...
You especially must watch it. I will be anxious to know what you think!
Hey, thanks for the tip. I never even heard about this movie. Adding it to my netflix now!
Hey Alexa,
I didn't get a chance to see Starting out in the Evening when it played in Chicago last year, but I just finished watching it on DVD and fell in love with it. I really miss subtlety in cinema. Frank Langella is a wonderful, underrated actor and he definitely deserved an Oscar nod more than the likes of George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Tommy Lee Jones. Tis' a shame. Also, thank you for the link to the clothes line! Now I have even more websites to keep me distracted ;-)
I totally agree, Sara. How he got overlooked is beyond me.
